How It Works
Understanding the transformative potential of solar powered irrigation systems (SPIS) begins with recognizing the mechanism behind their operation and the process of bringing them to life in the heartland of Nepal. Here's our step-by-step process from fundraising to implementation:
1. Fundraising: Our process begins with raising the necessary funds to procure and install the SPIS. The cost covers the solar panels, water pumps, other system components, transportation, installation, training, and follow-up visits. Your donations directly contribute to empowering Nepali communities with this sustainable technology.
2. Site Evaluation and Planning: The next phase involves detailed on-the-ground assessments. Our team, in partnership with local communities and experts, evaluates the water requirements, available sunlight, and optimal location for the pump. This stage also considers the best type of pump (submersible for deep water sources or surface pumps for shallow sources) based on local needs.
3. System Procurement: The collected funds allow us to purchase high-quality solar panels and water pumps. The panels are chosen based on the pump's power requirements and local sunlight conditions. The pumps are selected based on their efficiency, durability, and suitability to the local water source.
4. System Installation: The solar panels are set up in a location that receives maximum sunlight and oriented to maximize solar exposure. The pump is installed in the water source, with all necessary plumbing connected.
5. Connection and Testing: The solar panels and the water pump are connected via a controller, which regulates power flow from the panels to the pump. The system is then tested to ensure everything is operating efficiently.
6. Community Training: Local community members are trained to operate and maintain the solar irigation system. This includes basic troubleshooting, regular cleaning of solar panels, and checking the pump and controller to ensure their functionality.
7. Monitoring and Maintenance: Regular follow-up visits are scheduled to check on the system's operation, and maintenance is carried out as needed. These visits also allow us to measure the project's impact and identify potential areas for improvement.
With your support and our team's partnership with Nepali communities, we can create lasting change to those who need it.
